The term superfruit refers to fruits with exceptional nutritional qualities (high content of minerals, vitamins and trace elements) and having recognized health benefits.
Its high carbohydrate content makes the date a fruit with a high energy content, perfect for intense sports activities. Its consumption during prolonged efforts is useful to facilitate muscle work. In addition, it contains a high concentration of antioxidants as well as a high rate of fiber. Fiber aids digestion and plays a role in lowering cholesterol levels as well as normalizing glucose and insulin levels, helping to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Its richness in carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins and energy-stimulating pantothenic acid, makes dates a superfruit. Of all the dates produced in the world, the date produced in Medina, Saudi Arabia has added value and dimension.
Exceptional and unique, the date of Medina is considered, by all Muslims, to hold more spiritual virtues. It was in Medina that the Prophet of Islam lived most of his life and where he cultivated and harvested date palms. Considered a sacred fruit, the date is associated with rituals and religious occasions. Especially during Ramadan when Medina dates are often the first food consumed when breaking the fast or during pilgrimages (Umrah, Hajj).
The millions of pilgrims who came to Medina bought almost all of the local production but the health crisis stopped the influx of these pilgrims. Saudi professionals now want to increase the presence of Medina dates on international markets. Thanks in particular to Madinah Dates Virtual Exhibit, the online exhibition dedicated to the date of Medina.

MDV (Madinah Dates Virtual Exhibit) was put in place through a protocol between IsDB (Islamic Development Bank Group) and MCCI (Madinah Chamber of Commerce), as well as with the support of ITC (International Trade Center) and under the supervision of ITFC (International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation) through a date sector development project in the Medina region.
