In Portugal, a recent report by INE (Instituto Nacional de Estatistica) indicates significant increases in the production of apples, pears (+ 40%) and kiwis.
INE (Instituto Nacional de Estatistica) indicated that according to forecasts made on October 31, apple production should reach 341,000 tonnes, the 2nd largest volume in the last 35 and only exceeded by that of 2019 with 368,000 tons.
As far as pears are concerned, this year's production should register an increase of + 40% compared to last year and reach 183,000 tonnes.
With regard to kiwis, production this year should register an increase of + 10% compared to last year and reach 50,000 tonnes. This is the largest volume for the past 35 years.
The INE report also learns that almond production is expected to reach 37,900 tonnes, the highest production in the past 24 years. The production of tomatoes for the industry is expected to reach 1.57 million tonnes.
