Almond production declined by 40%

With the smallest crop since 2004.

Catastrophic harvest will not exceed 27,000 tons. 40% less than last year and 35% less than the average of the past 5 years. It is during a meeting of the National Office (Mesa Nacional de Frutos Secos) and the main professional organizations have confirmed these figures.

The decrease in production reached 50% in some areas, it is the smallest crop since 2004. Caused by diffférents factors: the frost which disrupted the process of flowering and pollination problems due to continuous rains. This decline in production will lead to disturbances in the marketing year 2013/14.
