Murcia's tomatoes show very low rates
Spain
Friday 24 January 2003
The rates are very low since the beginning of January in spite of a light recovery these last days. A part of harvests had to be thrown because it was not sold. Julien Amar, Fructidor's country manager in charge of the Spanish sector, entrusts to us that for a few days, all has been sold but at very low prices. Fault to the climate (too much sun at Christmas), the arrival of
Moroccan tomato in great quantity on the market and the tomato of
Almeria which matured too quickly as well as the one of Murcia.
