Chilean blueberry exports reached $675 million until November

In 2021, the blueberry was positioned as the eighth fruit with the largest agricultural commercial area in Chile, which generated revenues of $675 million until November, according to the latest Fruit Bulletin of the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (ODEPA). In the last 10 years, the planted area increased by 150%.
The regions that generated the greatest export value until November 2021 are: Maule with 191 million, Ñuble with 123 million, Biobío with 93 million, O'Higgins with 69 million and Araucanía with 48 million.
The peak of the average monthly export price was registered in September 2021: $ 11.88 per kilo. This value is almost 2% lower than the peak of 2020 ($ 12.12 per kilo).
The main market for these supplies in 2021 was the United States (48.81% of the total), followed by the Netherlands (18.34%), the United Kingdom (7.5%), China (6.4%), and South Korea (4%).
Fresh blueberry exports totaled 98 thousand tons ($501 million) which is 62% of total. Frozen blueberry exports totaled 47 thousand tons, for a value of $174 million (+11% compared to 2020).
