The United Kingdom is the 3rd market for Spanish exports of Fruits & Vegetables.
The United Kingdom remains the third market for Spanish exports of fresh fruit and vegetables. In 2019 Spanish exports to this market increased by 6% in volume. Brexit will be formalized on January 31, 2020 and the new trade agreements will be decisive.
According to the data processed by FEPEX, Spanish exports of fresh Fruits & Vegetables to the United Kingdom amounted to 1.2 million tonnes and €1,427 million, until October 2019. This represents a growth of 6% in volume and a stabilization of the value compared to the same period of the previous year.
In this period from January to October 2019, vegetable exports amounted to 650,745 tonnes (+ 2%) and €637 million (+ 5%) and fruit exports totaled 602,731 tonnes (+ 9% ) and €790 million (-5%).
FEPEX considers that after Brexit, which will be formalized on January 31, the new trade agreement between the European Commission and the United Kingdom will be decisive. It will be negotiated throughout this year. Priority should be given to maintaining the same trade flow for the fruit and vegetable sector.
