From all cabbages, Germans prefer cauliflower.
According to a study of "Pressebüro deutsches Obst und Gemüse", the cauliflower is the preferred cabbage of Germans. Each household consumes 2.28 kg per year. In northern Germany and in North Rhine-Westphalia region, cauliflower represents even the half of purchases of vegetables.
The cultures of cauliflower occupy 5,500 hectares in Germany (in 3 major regions Rheinland-Pfalz, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Niedersachsen). The season runs from May to November. In winter, Germany massively imports sprouts from France, Spain and Italy.
