In the province of Almeria, the maintenance, training and harvesting of various types of peppers continues at a steady pace. In some greenhouses, a double roof has been implemented to raise the internal temperature. The decision to harvest or keep the peppers in the plant is made based on price fluctuations, according to the crop status report of the Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Junta de Andalucía.
Tomato crops are in the fattening, fruit set and harvesting stages, with additional activities such as de-stemming and staking in progress.
In the eggplant greenhouses, harvesting continues and, in general terms, a healthy vegetative development is observed, with flowers, fruit set and fruit fattening. Greenhouses with zucchini crops exhibit plantings at various stages, some of which are completing their production cycle and are often repeated with new zucchini crops, using thermal blankets in the early stages to ensure adequate insulation.
Some cucumber plantations have completed their productive cycle, and after their removal, a new planting of cucumber or another vegetable is started. Greenhouses with recent plantations often use double covering and thermal blankets to protect from the cold and accelerate vegetative development.
Watermelon plantings have already begun, and robust vegetative development is observed. In these initial stages, the crops are developed under plastic tunnels to protect them from the low temperatures.
In the province of Granada, specifically in the region of Alhama, the greenhouses are preparing the ground with the plastics raised. Meanwhile, in the region of La Costa, pear and vine tomatoes are in full production, with cherry, pear cherry and vine cherry tomatoes coming out of the greenhouses.
