Increase exports to other African countries
FJ
A huge potential market which is not sufficiently exploited according to ASCAM.
ASCAM (Association of citrus conditioners Morocco) wants to boost exports to other African countries. Especially sub-Saharan Africa. Stating that these countries (Mauritania, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea) rose sharply in four years their requests for Moroccan products, with 9425 tons in 2009 and 16,082 tons in 2013.
But during this period, the quantities of exported citrus declined by -8%. The potential is important but not enough exploited.
According to professionals many factors limit exports: informal sector production which harms the products of international standard, bilateral agreements on a reduced list of products, infrastructure interstate transportation deficit.
