South African producer Unichoice has acquired Dutch fresh produce importer Van der Lans Capefresh.
South Africa-based citrus and grape grower Unichoice Produce Direct has this week confirmed its acquisition of Van der Lans Capefresh, sister company of Van der Lans International in The Netherlands.
Unichoice is a new grower based company in South Africa, whereby the growers-shareholders have countrywide supply of fresh citrus and grapes.
Van der Lans International is a specialised fresh produce importer for the retail market and fresh produce wholesalers in Europe.
As part of this transaction, Unichoice and Van der Lans International in The Netherlands concluded an exclusive marketing-arrangement for western Europe of fresh South African produce from Unichoice growers, especially citrus and grapes.
The current management of Van der Lans Capefresh will remain in charge, while the registered trade brands La Rhyn and Marguerite will remain the property of Van der Lans and Unichoice.
In a statement, Unifresh said the new cooperation and business structure "secured Van der Lans International and its customers with a long term supply of South African citrus and grapes".
