A number of leading industry figures have been lined up to speak at the Global Berry Congress.
Speakers from some of the world's leading berry marketing companies and supplying countries are scheduled to speak at the first ever berry congress, which takes place at Canary Wharf in London between 15-16 May.
Organised by Eurofruit Magazine and supported by the British Summer Fruits Association and Winter Berries, the event offers an unrivalled mix of presentations and panel discussions, with over 250 delegates from all over the world set to attend.
Of the speakers, Oscar Verdes of FreshRoyal will explain how a major Spanish fruit producer and exporter has formed partnerships to market berries more effectively to Europe's environmentally conscious customers, while Ian Ferguson of HortResearch, David Johnston of Well-Pict European, and Nicholas Marston of BerryGardens will debate how to better develop berries for European consumers.
Other conference sessions focus on the latest developments of the berry sector in various key areas. Edward Garner of TNS Worldpanel will look at consumer data, Christian Carvajal of the Chilean Fruit Exporter's Association will explain how marketing and merchandising drives sales, and UK immigration minister Liam Byrne has been invited to address delegates on the industry's looming labour problems.
Stephen Taylor of Europe's leading blueberry producer Winterwood Farms Ltd. and Sharon Cross of leading vegetable marketer The Shropshire Group are also part of the same session, looking at labour issues in the industry.
