Exports of Turkish fruits and vegetables in May

Tomato exports increased by 10 percent compared to May 2012. After the tomatoes, the most exported vegetables are peppers, onions and eggplants in particular with increased export of onions of double in quantity and almost of the triple in value and that even more important for export of potatoes that has increased from 1000 to 10 000 tonnes. Importer countries of the most important vegetables are Russia, with 60 percent of the market, followed by Ukraine, Romania, Germany and Iraq.
Tomato exports have decreased in quantity by 8 percent compared to May 2012 but have increased by 24 percent in value. Cherry, strawberry, peach and watermelon are the next most exported fruits. Note the increase in the export of watermelon by 50 percent in volume and by 110 percent in value, passing and that of the peach that increases by 55 percent in quantity and by 130 percent in value. Importing countries of fruits are still Russia, with 33 percent of the market, Bulgaria with 12 percent of the market, followed by Iraq, Germany and Romania respectively with 10 percent for the first two countries and 8 percent.
