Flutepac offers plastic-free corrugated packs for fresh produce

Flutepac has developed a range of corrugated trays and punnets for fruit, vegetables and food-to-go products, FEFCO reported.

The packs are made from microflute corrugated board and contain no plastic. They are fully recyclable and designed to stay strong as products move through transport, storage and retail.

The structure of the board allows air to circulate around the contents. According to FEFCO, this natural ventilation can help keep fresh products in good condition.

Product information and branding can also be printed directly onto the pack. This removes the need for separate labels and reduces the number of materials used.

FEFCO presented the range as an example of how fibre-based packaging can replace some single-use plastic formats while helping companies prepare for changing packaging rules.
