MSC expands Central African cargo network through Kribi

MSC has added Cameroon’s Port of Kribi to its intermodal network, creating a coordinated transport service between the port and inland markets in Cameroon, Chad and the Central African Republic, the shipping company announced.

The door-to-door service combines ocean freight, port handling and road transport. It connects Kribi with Yaoundé in Cameroon, Moundou and N’Djamena in Chad, and Bangui in the Central African Republic.

MSC said Kribi receives up to four vessel calls per week and has direct connections with Asian markets, including China, South Korea, Vietnam and India. The company expects the new arrangement to reduce transport costs, improve cargo movement and ease pressure on existing regional trade routes.

Local MSC teams will manage documentation, customs clearance, inland transport and shipment tracking. Kribi is Cameroon’s only deep-water port and the largest port of its kind in Central Africa.
