Beijing has become the "hub" of imports in northern China
FJ
Mutation of trade routes to China, where Beijing has become in 5 years the new "hub" of imports and distribution of fresh fruit.
According to the report of the US Department of Agriculture, Beijing became the main center of the importation and distribution of fresh fruit for whole North China. This change is due, first to the increased consumption in northern China which has led to an increasing number of direct mail and then to inland transport costs which remain high.
Shipments via Hong Kong are no longer financially relevant. The importer-distributors use more ports of Tianjin, Qingdao and Dalian. Beijing is now the hub for the distribution of imported fresh fruit throughout the North of China (Tianjin, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shanxie). The Dalian port ranks just after Beijing as the second largest distribution platform.
