Spanish citrus production will reach 6.5 million tons in 2008/2009

Spain, as the first country producer, recorded a harvest of :
3.45 million tons of oranges (+28 percent),
2.23 million tons of mandarins (+9 percent),
810,000 tons of lemons (+49 percent )
And 50,814 tons of grapefruits (+10 percent).
Egypt will reach 2.5 million tons and decreases by 10 percent its production.
Greece achieved one million tonnes and is maintained, and Morocco reached 1.3 million tons, increasing by 10 per cent harvest.
According to the association, the successful marketing of citrus in these countries depend on both the weather before the crop and consumer demand.
