From August 23 to 25, the IBO Summit, one of the most important blueberry events in the world, will be held virtually. The event is organized by the Peruvian Blueberry Association (Proarándanos) and the International Blueberry Organization (IBO).
The Summit will examine statistics and industry development prospects, as well as promotional, technical and environmental trends.
The program will include presentations by industry specialists and virtual visits to different fields in the regions of La Libertad, Lima, Lambayeque and Ica, to learn about the operations that have led Peru to become the main supplier of this fruit in the world.
The list of speakers includes Daniel Bustamante, the president of Proarandanos; Sebastián Ochoa and Mariusz Padewsky, renowned blueberry consultants; Cort Brazelton, Co-CEO Fall Creek; Emiliano Escobedo, executive director at Hass Avocado Board; Amy Howell, a researcher at Rutgers University; Jennifer Sparks, VP of Marketing and Communications at the USHBC, and David Hugues, Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at Imperial College London.
In addition, the event will feature round tables dedicated to various aspects of the sector: the future of the counter-seasonal offer with participation of the representatives of South Africa, Morocco, Chile, Mexico and Peru; and sustainability beyond the traditional approach, handled by Mario Steta, Driscoll's VP for Mexico.
