BASF has strengthened its presence in the United States in the area of ??products for agriculture (fertilizers, pesticides, seeds).
BASF, N ° 1 worldwide in chemicals, has acquired Becker Underwood, a U.S. biological treatments producer for $1.02 billion (785 million euros)
Based in Ames, Iowa, Becker Underwood is an American expert in pesticides and fertilizers and the company has 10 production sites with expected turnover of $240 million in 2012.
The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2012. BASF will integrate this business to its division dedicated to agriculture (Crop Science). This acquisition will allow BASF to further expand its presence in the United States.
