According to a balance sheet as at 31 October 2017, banana exports total 223,012 tons, while in 2016 these exports amounted to 243,681 tons.
The decline in banana exports, recorded at the end of October 2017, suggests that Cameroon will not be able to reach its target of 300 000 tonnes exported during the year.
Climate hazards disrupted banana production and exports totaled only 223,012 tonnes as of October 31, 2017. This represents a decrease of 20,000 tonnes compared to the volume exported during the same period in 2016.
For ASSOBACAM, the Banana Association of Cameroon, the target of 300,000 tonnes exported will be difficult to achieve.
