Wednesday 13 June 2007
More than 220.000 EUR have been awarded to five emerging farmer projects to assist them to grow their participation in South Africa's agricultural export market.
The money comes from the SA Pesticide Initiative Program (SA PIP) and will support its Small Scale Farmer Projects, launched on 30 May 2007 at the Ripplemead Citrus Farm in Peddie.
The money will contribute towards training about Good Agricultural Practice, to support compliance with European Union food safety legislation and regulations. The training will have a specific focus on responsible pesticide handling.
