Positive development of fruit and vegetable trade between the EU and Latin America.
The European Union increased its imports of Fruits & Vegetables from Latin America (+ 2% in volume, + 10% in value), which at the same time recorded an increase in its imports from the EU (+ 50% in volume, + 35% in value).
According to Eurostat data processed by FEPEX, trade increased between the European Union and the countries of Latin America. In 2015, the EU imported a total of 7.4 million tonnes for 6.364 million euros. In the opposite direction, Latin America imported 434 127 tonnes for 223 million euros of products from the EU.
The main suppliers to the EU were Costa Rica, Ecuador and Colombia, with bananas, pineapples and avocados as their main products.
Brazil was the largest destination with 326,735 tonnes, including onions (197,832 tonnes). The other imported products are citrus fruits, apples and apricots.
