Results of Apple Harvest in Uruguay in 2006

The apple harvest in 2006 in Uruguay finished with 61,285 tons and decrease of 21% below the historic record from the previous year when growers collected more than 77,000 tons of apples.
The low production of 2006 was also due to small number of frost hours during the winter 2005/06 what influenced the blooming of apple trees.
In 2006, 7,500 tons (13%) of apples were exported, 48,000 tons (79%) were consumed fresh and 5,000 tons (9%) were processed industrially.
