Mandarins, lemons, oranges: the winning trio of citrus exports

Increased Turkish citrus exports. Mandarins occupy 1st place in front of lemons, oranges and grapefruit.
According to UTK (Ulusal Turunçgil Konseyi), the National Citrus Council, Turkey exported 2,200,000 tonnes of citrus fruit in the past year for a turnover of 893 million USD.
The country exported 744,000 tons of mandarins, 634,000 tons of lemons, 448,000 tons of oranges and 194,000 tons of grapefruit last year. Compared with the previous year, exports increased by an average of 21%.
The main destination markets are Russia (584,000 tons), Iraq, Ukraine and Romania. Some countries have remarkable rates of growth in volumes shipped such as Bulgaria (+ 76%), Poland (71%) and Italy (67%).
The sector estimates that increasing citrus exports to EU countries is the indicator that producers and exporters are producing to global standards.
