The Emilia-Romagna region will be the world capital of cherries at the Macfrut fair

The program is rich and varied: advanced training session, global symposium, study of global market trends, guided tours of the main companies in the sector that will be present at Macfrut, field visits to discover innovative products.

As part of the Macfrut trade show (May 4-6, 2022), ICS will take place, the International Cherry Symposium (May 2-6, 2022). ICS will consist of several events that will make the Emilia-Romagna region the world capital of cherries.

ICS (International Cherry Symposium) will be held from May 2 to 6, will consist of several events scheduled throughout the week:

.International Spring School (May 2-3) to be held at the Bertinoro University Residential Center, will focus on the theme of "sustainable management of orchards in a changing environment". The program will include 10 seminars on key topics, it is managed and coordinated by the 3 organizing universities (Bologna, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Marche Polytechnic) with the participation of international speakers and cherry specialists. The event will be held in English.

.ICS -International Cherry Symposium, Expo Center Rimini, Macfrut (May 4)

Meeting of the world's leading experts on the 1st day of the Macfrut show. The conference, which will take up an entire day during the show, will host experts from the United States, Chile, Germany, France and Italy who will address key issues in cherry cultivation: from economic sustainability of new cherry orchards to biotechnologies applied to varietal innovation and, to precision technologies applied to production, plant protection and post-harvest handling.

The morning of May 5 will be dedicated to discovering some of the biggest producers and marketers of cherries in the world: global market strategies in the 6 leading countries of the sector (Turkey, Chile, United States, Uzbekistan, Spain and Italy) will be addressed.

In the afternoon, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., product and process innovations introduced by researchers and the industry in the cherry sector will be in the spotlight: varieties and rootstocks, versatile cover systems, technologies processing and packaging. A group of professional experts will take Macfrut 2022 attendees on several dedicated visits to the stands of the main companies that have invested in the cherry industry.

. Field visit, Vignola and Cesena (6 May)

To discover the innovations introduced in the cherry sector: 2 field trips to nurseries, farms and processing plants in the Emilia-Romagna region.
