Production and export of Chilean stone fruit projected to rise

In the first projection for the 2023-2024 season of Chilean stone fruit exports, Frutas de Chile has highlighted the expected growth in production and exports, which includes Japanese plums, European plums and nectarines.
The estimate is based on data provided by 44 Chilean stone fruit companies, which represent 84% of the total stone fruit supplies shipped worldwide last season. These companies represent 92% of the volumes of Japanese plums, 72% of European plums and 93% of nectarines for the 2023-2024 season.
This season, Chilean stone fruit exports are projected to total 30,033,375 boxes.
In terms of volumes, shipments of Japanese plums are expected to reach 13,393,586 boxes (7 kg boxes), reflecting a growth of 19% compared to the previous season. European plums or sugar plums (9 kg boxes) would reach 8,115,821 boxes, with a growth of 25% in relation to the previous year. Exports of nectarines (8 kg boxes) would amount to 12,468,881 boxes, experiencing an increase of 22% compared to the previous period.
