Vietnam is rapidly expanding its markets

Vietnam has shipped a first batch ( 500 kilos) of litchi by air to Canada , and the fruits have been sold the next day in Toronto.

The Canadian market thus complementing the US and Australian markets (3 tons ), where recently Vietnam has also made ??its 1st litchi exports .

This expansion of export markets is good news for farmers in the country. The export companies give farmers a higher price ( 15,000 VND per kg ) compared to those charged by Chinese importers ( 8,000 VND ) .

The harvest expected this year in the 2 largest growing areas of litchi (Bac Giang , Hai Duong ) is about 200 000 tonnes. According to the Ministry of Agriculture: about 60% of lychees , 120 000 tonnes will be consumed in the domestic market , the rest will be exported , 80 000 tonnes.
