Strong gales caused the fall of 200 000 tons of citrus fruit

The strong gales as well as the frosts of these last days caused the fall of approximately 200 000 tons of citrus fruit in the Community of Valencia. Damages were estimated at 48 million euros. The most affected zones in the province of Valence are the sectors of Camp of Turia, Ribera, Hoya de Buñol, Safor, Horta, Camp of Morvedre and Costera. Between 50 and 70% of the production of citrus fruits would be lost.
