Bulgarian farmers protest, their tomatoes are unsaleable in the national market because of low priced imports.
Low price importation of vegetables raised a wave of protests in Bulgaria
Bulgarian tomato growers protest against low priced imports from neighboring countries (Romania, Turkey, Greece). They qualified the imports as "scandalous" and pushed the authorities to carry out investigations on some illegal imports. These Bulgarian producers have also threatened to block the bridge, Brigde Danube 2, recently opened, essential part of Pan-European Corridor IV and entry of imported products door.
In Bulgaria the price of tomatoes at this time of the year has never been so low. Production was late because of bad weather and producers are unable to sell their tomatoes at a real price. Local production is unsaleable because of low priced imports.
