Removal of 'Best Before' from TESCO

 

 

This initiative follows the investigation by the National Federation of Women's Institutes (NFWI), which revealed that one of the causes of food waste is the misunderstanding of the term 'Best Before'. Most consumers do not differentiate between 'Best Before' and 'Use by' (which should be consumed before ..) which leads to the disposal of perfectly edible products.

 

 

 

Because Fruits & Vegetables are among the most wasted products according to the distributor, the mention 'Best Before' is removed on the packaging of about 70 of its products.
