The state of Michoacán, from December to March is the main supplier of lemons in the country (2,500 tons per day).

With an observed increase of 108% in the state of Michoacán.

The latest report of SNIIM, the national agency of market information, reveals that the price of lemons (wholesale and semi-wholesale) increased by 52% in a few days. This increase is added to the preceding, and the lemon is traded now at +108% against the demanded price already 1 year.

Professionals explain this inflation, first by the shortage of fruits: 3 producing areas have lost a part of their crops due to the weather, and then the problems related to insecurity (struggles against drug traffickers, intimidation , stops of crops, roadblocks) which add difficulties in supply.

Professionals hope that the security measures implemented by the government will solve the problem of insecurity. But they expect that prices will continue to remain at a high level.
