The ban on imports of fresh produce from Turkey has been in the offing since November 2015. However, with improved relations between the two countries, many products, including citrus fruits, have been allowed to import.
According to information disseminated by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the ban has been lifted for onions, cauliflowers, broccoli and carnations.
This is, of course, good news, especially for the Antalya and Alanya regions in southern Turkey, but many vegetables and fruits, which start with the season, do not seem to be part of it, tomatoes, grapes, strawberries, courgettes and pomegranates. And producers and exporters are still waiting.
It will be necessary to wait for the interview of the two great heads of state to have perhaps more news for the Turkish fruit and vegetables.
