Citrus exports to the EU have increased in value !
FJ
Despite the interruption of shipments, the value of citrus exports to the EU increased by 9 % last year .
The discovery of several lots infected with CBS (citrus black spot ) and European protests had led the South African exporters to halt shipments to the EU. Then, after months of negotiations, the implementation of a stricter monitoring system , then review the measures taken by the health authorities of the EU, had led to the recovery in exports.
Over 34 % of citrus exports from South Africa take the lead of Europe, where 40% of citrus consumed in winter come from South Africa.
