The updated measures reflect stricter controls on pest management and food safety in fresh produce trade.
Canada has updated the phytosanitary requirements for imports of several products from India, according to a circular issued by India’s Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
The revised rules cover fresh mangoes, fresh pomegranates and pomegranate arils, oranges, and garlic exported to Canada.
APEDA said shipments must comply with updated import conditions set by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), including phytosanitary certification and inspection procedures before export.
The changes reflect tighter import controls around pest management, traceability and food safety in international fresh produce trade.
