In Australia, the Queensland region produces many fruits including pineapple, but after a wet and cold winter, pineapple producers expect a drop in the volumes produced and anticipate a shortage from 2023.
According to pineapple growers, winter weather conditions put a damper on oversupply for about 18 months and due to the cyclical nature of farming, after the 18 month period of excellent yields, the sector will register an insufficient supply for the next 12 to 18 months.
The volume of pineapples will drop but Queensland producers assure that they will work together to ensure that the supply remains optimal.
