Crisis for table grape production in Puglia

On a total production of about 12 mln MT table grape, an amount of 2 mln MT is remained unsold this year. A delegation from Puglia has asked the government for financial aids to be invested in a better promotion for the local table grape, and in a renewal of the old vineyards, where new and more appreciated table grape varieties should be planted. The table grape production in the region Puglia - 47.000 ha - represents about 70% of the Italian grape and about 15% of the grape production worldwide.
