The country records record agricultural exports thanks to growing global demand and trade agreements, strengthening its position in the international food market.
By 2024, Mexico has consolidated its position as the world's second largest exporter of chili, broccoli, cauliflower, lime and cucumber, thanks to increased global demand and the continued efforts of domestic producers. The Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) attributes this achievement to the 14 free trade agreements that Mexico has with 51 countries, which has opened access to a potential market of 1.376 million consumers, positioning the country as the ninth largest food exporter worldwide.
In 2023, green chile reached historic figures with 1,180,860 tons exported, an increase of 5.8% over the previous year, and generated 1.231 billion dollars, up 9.5%.
Broccoli and cauliflower recorded notable increases, with broccoli exports growing 23.6% in volume and 54.0% in value between 2018 and 2023. Lemon and cucumber also stood out, consolidating Mexico as the leading producer in the Americas and second in the world. In 2023, cucumber exports reached a record 884,107 tons, generating more than US$545 million.
These results reflect the strength of Mexican agriculture and its capacity to continue growing in the global food market.
