The season of early vegetables and berries is postponed on 2-3 weeks

The fruit and vegetable producers inform the specialists of "Fruit-Inform" project, the weather conditions of this year lead to the later ripening of vegetables and berries, so that the price fluctuations are impressive on market.
The season of the ripening of early field vegetables and berries is in average two weeks later than the past year season and one week later than the average season in the recent years in the central and southern regions of Ukraine. The situation is worse in the western regions of Ukraine - the season is postponed on 3 weeks here. In addition to the cool weather, the ripening of the harvest is affected by the excessive moisture - such natural conditions did not let the producers timely sow the seeds and transplants of the vegetable crops.
As a result, the prices for the most of the major vegetables and berries are higher at the present moment than in 2007. However, if we compare the seasons, the prices will be either comparable or lower than in 2007. The prices for sweet cherry are almost the same as they were past year in the central regions of the country. At the same time, the prices for sweet cherry are twice and more as high than in 2007 in the western regions of the country.
