The production of vegetable in 2014 is expected steady

In Spain the production of vegetables will be similar to the levels of last year.

The Ministry of Agriculture (Magrama) in its latest bulletin announces the production of vegetables in 2014 almost similar to the levels of the previous year.

These "preliminary" estimates indicate an increase of +4.3% for tomato production and a decrease of -6.9% for green beans. Production of eggplant will grow by +0.1% and that of the carrots is expected to -0.5%. Crops will reach 1.12 million tons for tomatoes; 358,400 tons for carrots; 205,500 tons for eggplants.

Regarding the surfaces, tomato crops reach 11,800 hectares (+3.8%), carrots 6,300 hectares (-4.2%), eggplants 3,600 hectares (-6.3%).
