WM Morrison, the fourth distributor in the UK, opened its first convenience store “M Local ” in Ilkley (Yorkshire), and two more shops will open in a few weeks.

With its new store “M Local”, Morrison wants to decrease prices in the convenience stores. Morrison announced that 75% of products including fresh produce will be the same price as in supermarkets.

Morrison will use the same structures for its stores that for supermarkets. He will make a better margin on its own brand products and fresh produce. With better dynamics, convenience stores increase their sales two times faster than the rest of the sector.

In Great Britain stores, sales should increase by 5.5% over the next five years reaching £ 42.3 billion (70 billion U.S. dollars), and exceed the 3.7% growth expected for the entire grocery market.
