Record exports of cherries - up 20%

New record for exports of cherries from Chile led by higher shipments to Asia, while shipments to Europe decreased.
ASOEX has announced that exports of cherries have reached a new record of 69,335 tons, up 19.7% over last year.
According ASOEX (Asociación de Exportadores of Frutas), Asian markets continue to receive the bulk of exports. They have increased their share considerably from 46%
in export volumes last year to 62% this year
U.S. and European markets fell: exports to the U.S. fell from 35% last year to 22% this year and exports to Europe decreased by 10% to 8%.
Bing is the main variety exported, reaching 51,779 tons or 74.7% of the total.
