A red plate causes a reduction of food intake, and by eating less we lose weight.
The color of plates, weight, shape and color of cover influence our perception of food.
A study conducted by researchers from the University of Oxford (UK) and published in the journal Flavour, found a link between the covers and perceived flavor of food.
According to the study, white yogurts are considered smoother than pink yogurt when eaten with a black spoon rather than a white. Food stitched onto a knife or toothpick are considered saltier than if eaten with a spoon. A silver spoon seems the most valuable product and better than a white plastic spoon.
The researchers explain that the brain form a judgment on the food before it is absorbed. Thus the use of a red plate leads to a reduction in consumption, the color tends to develop a kind of food rationing.
