The new European regulations on wood requires traceability.
The Regulations of the European Union Wood (RBUE) will ban the Community market the wood and the products derived from illegally harvested. This regulation applies on cut wood and products made from wood, including packaging and pallets.
The different actors have an obligation of traceability. "Operators" who place timber and timber products derived on the market for the first time and "traders" who buy and sell timber and timber products to other companies. It should collect information (trade name, product type, country of harvest, harvest area, quantity, name and address of the supplier) and keep them for five years in the appropriate registers.
The federation FEFPEB is quite ready for this new regulation. Traceability was already included in its works. The Federation and its members are well positioned to meet the new regulations.
