According to data from SENASA, Argentina's national service of health and quality of food, Argentina remains the first world exporter of pears.
SENASA stated that Argentina remains the first world exporter of pears with 442,000 tons exported in 2013. This volume represents approximately 60% of its total production, the industry uses 25% and the domestic market consumes 15% .
The main buyer of Argentine pears is Brazil with 148,000 tons (almost 34% of exports). Then comes Russia with 102,000 tons (23% of exports), followed by the Netherlands with 45,800 tons (10%), the United States with 40,800 tons (9%) and Italy with 38,000 tons (8%).
