Early campaign start for New Zealand kiwis in Europe

The first ship loaded with kiwis arrived in Belgium. The European marketing campaign for Zespri kiwis should start in May.
The port of Zeebrugge (Belgium) welcomed the first ship on April 19. On board, more than 1,253 million trays of Kiwis SunGold. In the coming weeks and months, 25 ships are expected to arrive in Zeebrugge on a weekly basis. Zespri is also planning 11 additional ships to arrive in Porto Vado (Italy) and Tarragona (Spain).
The marketing campaign in Europe should start week 20. According to the company, despite the difficulties associated with COVID-19, all European ports are functioning well. In addition, the new packaging plant in Zeebrugge should be fully operational by mid-May.
Zespri plans to ship approximately 55 million trays of kiwi fruit to Europe, including 20 million trays of SunGold kiwi fruit and approximately 35 million trays of green kiwi fruit.
