Oranges: prices continue to rise
FJ
Mexico, however producing country, has registered significant increases on the price of oranges.
Huge increases (+ 50% and even + 90.24% in some regions) the price of oranges in Mexico, according to producer organizations and different price measures. If these increases are good for Mexican exports, it is much less favorable for the domestic market where consumers are reluctant to pay such prices.
These increases can be explained by the decline in production in some countries (Brazil, USA) affected by the pest HLB (Huan Long Bing or Yellow Dragon), by Mexican production lower than other years, and finally by the natural cycle of fruit production in July and August.
Prices are expected to continue to rise until October (harvest other varieties) and then regain their usual levels.
