Expected decline in production Valle del Jerte

Crop of cherries lower by nearly 50% compared to the previous year .

The Association of Cooperatives (Agrupación Cooperativas of Valle del Jerte) provides reduced production by 50% compared to the last year. This decrease is the result of the problems at the time of flowering and adverse weather of June. Cherries are of good quality.

The production of cherries Jerte Valley is about 80,000 kg per day at the beginning of the season and culminates to 300,000 kg per day; figures will be lower this year. More than 100 varieties of cherries are grown in Valle del Jerte only 5 varieties with DOP (Designation of Origin Protegida) "cerezas Jerte" Ambrunés Pico Limón Negro, Pico Negro, Pico Colorado, Navalind.
