Banana farmers in the border area with Venezuela on alert for the spread of fusarium R4T

The presence of the fusarium R4T pest that affects plantain and banana crops was confirmed in Venezuela, according to the National Institute of Integral Agricultural Health (Insai).

 

In turn, Colombian producers in the border area, specifically in the departments of Arauca, Boyacá, Cesar, La Guajira, Guainía, Norte de Santander and Vichada, reinforce prevention, biosecurity and surveillance actions.

 

The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) asked producers and travelers not to move plantain, banana and by-products from the neighboring country to prevent the spread of the virus.

 

It is important to disinfect footwear, clothing, tools and vehicles in case you have visited banana-producing areas in Venezuela.
