New EU food safety headquarters to be in Parma

The EU has announced that Parma has been chosen as the location for its Food Safety Authority headquarters.
The facility is scheduled to be fully operational in three years and will employ over 300 staff.
The main role of the European Food Safety Authority is to assess risks related to the food chain and to identify potential threats to the European food supply.
