Increase of fresh produce export from Mexico to USA in 2006

The Mexican producers exported to the United States agro-alimentary goods by 10,600 million dollars in 2006, number 12.8% greater percent to the one of the previous year, today said the Secretariat of Agriculture, Cattle ranch and Fishing (Sagarpa). That year the exports added US$ 9,384 million. In agreement with the Secretariat, that increase was US$ 1,216 million, a record for those sales.
"The expansion of the fresh produce stuff exports derived from supplies of Mexican products to the market of the United States, as well as the commercial alliances between the companies of both countries and the successful campaigns of promotion that have contributed to the development of markets", explained sources of the Secretariat.
Sagarpa informed that the sales were integrated mainly by alive vegetables, drinks, and fruits, which represented 68% of the total of the Mexican agro-alimentary exports towards the American market.
The 50 main products sold by Mexico to the United States contributed with the 90 percent of the total exports of the sector.
The vegetables mainly grew a 9.2%. In addition, the shipments stood out avocado, grape, lemon, handle, strawberries, papayas and nut, which have increased their presence in that country.
