Export of fruits and vegetables in November: mixed results

The statistics released by the Mediterranean Exporters Union, national coordinator for the sector of Turkish fruits and vegetables show a significant decrease in the export of vegetables (-29% -7% in quantity and value), fruits (- 16% in quantity but 3% by value) compared to November 2013. However, citrus derive their game with a 17% increase in quantity, but only 3% in value, corresponding to the decline of the ruble, Russia being the main market.
It is the mandarin varieties that have experienced the largest increase (+ 29%), followed by oranges (14%), while exports of lemons in November were reduced by 5% compared to November 2013 and grapefruits (- 4%).
Russia remains the largest market with 44% of total exports. Iraq's imports fell by 30 percent, but the country still remains the second largest exporter of Turkish fresh produce, followed by Ukraine.
